Port Adelaide’s great Kane Cornes dumped on Richmond’s young Sydney Stack, criticizing the 21-year-old’s “ridiculous” use of social media.
Cornes’ comments came after a recent interview in Herald of the sun saw Tigers’ elite performance manager Peter Burge reveal that Stack “still has some work to do with consistency in preparation.”
Entering his fourth preseason with the Tigers, Stack has shown immense potential. However, his 33-game AFL career was marked by several off-pitch incidents.

talking about SEN Breakfast, Cornes said Stack’s focus on social media stardom distracts him from developing his football.
“How Richmond fares this year will depend on how many of their younger players fare,” he said.
“One of them is Sydney Stack. I know he didn’t make it into the top 10 (of the 2019 draft) with Connor Rozee, Sam Walsh and Bailey Smith, but he’s in that situation in his career. He’s just as talented as any of these. . is a bit lost for the reasons we know.
“There is a little old school in me about this. Whether or not someone in Richmond did, or whether the new era is simply ‘letting individuals be individuals and embrace social media.’
“But there’s something in me that says, ‘Sydney, put away social media, put away your ridiculous TikTok videos’ – if you’ve watched them, they’re noteworthy, they’re embarrassing – until you get a kick.
“He hasn’t achieved anything, but he has the skills to be a great 200-game player.
“For those Richmond fans who have seen his videos on social media, am I too old school to think I can sit him, shake him, ban him from TikTok until he takes a kick and has some success? Or doesn’t he go now?
“This is what they are saying publicly, that he has a lot of work to do. Imagine what they are saying privately about his preparation, his stamina and his skin folds.
“What worries me is that he’s wasting it. He’s as talented as Rozee, Walsh and Smith, but I think he’s wasting it.”
Cornes also said he feels “very similar” to previous Bulldogs’ # 1 draft pick, Jamarra Ugle-Hagan, who is also extremely active on social media.
